ODI World Cup 2023
‘100% bhai, he will be X factor’ – Fans react as Shikhar Dhawan feels Suryakumar Yadav will be right choice for number 4 spot in ODI World Cup
The Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is all set to take place in October and November this year in the host country, India. Notably, the Men in Blue are still unable to find the number four batter for the upcoming mega tournament, as there is no official update on KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer’s return to the squad. Moreover, a plethora of cricket pundits are suggesting numerous players keep that spot.
Speaking on the same subject, India star batter Shikhar Dhawan feels Suryakumar Yadav will be the right choice for that spot during the 50-over World Cup. In addition, the opening batter feels that the 32-year-old Suryakumar Yadav has a lot of experience and has played a plethora of international matches.
I would go with Suryakumar Yadav at four in the World Cup: Shikhar Dhawan
Moreover, the Punjab Kings batter also pointed out India’s young batter, Shubman Gill, to watch out for during the upcoming mega contest. In addition, the left-handed batter says that he had a lot of expectations from India skipper Rohit Sharma because he was in terrific form during the 2019 World Cup, where he struck out five centuries in England under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
“I would go with Surya at four as he is an experienced player and has been playing international cricket for a while. Also, really looking forward to seeing how Shubman Gill does in the World Cup. Another batter to watch out for will be Rohit Sharma as he did exceptionally well in the last World Cup,” Shikhar Dhawan said on PTI.
Furthermore, the 37-year-old batter feels that the Rohit Sharma side has a home advantage, which can help them win the matches easily against any opponents as the Men in Blue are familiar with the home pitches.
“We have got a very good side which has the right blend of experience and youth. We will have the home advantage. We know the grounds and pitches and that is going to come in very handy,” he added further.

Surya is fit for No 5 or 6.
No 4 batter play between 15 to 35 overs.
Team should use Surya in last overs.

If Shreyas is healthy then I would 100% pick him at number 4, everyone keeps forgetting that he scored the most runs india across formats in 2022.

First clown statement by Shikhar Dhawan. Didn't expected that a clutch player will give opinion in favour of a choker
