South Africa overcame England in the 2023 ODI World Cup by a huge margin. In the clash of titans, South Africa reigned supreme as they outclassed England in all the departments of the game. A collective effort from South Africa meant that they had an easy win against England in tough conditions to play. In Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, the weather was not too favorable for the play.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Quinton De Kock was dismissed in just the second over of the match. What followed was domination from South Africa. Everyone contributed with the bat for proteas after that. In the absence of Temba Bavuma, Beuran Hendricks played a good knock and scored 85 runs in 75 balls. Rassie Van Der Dussen scored 60 runs in 61 balls.

Aiden Markram scored 42 runs in 44 balls. David Miller could not fire with the bat. But the partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen was simply outstanding and changed the complexion of the game completely. Klaasen scored 109 runs in 67 balls, which included 12 fours and 4 sixes. On the other hand, Jansen scored 75 runs in 42 balls, which included 3 fours and 6 sixes.

South African bowlers defend the target with ease 

In their 50 overs, South Africa scored a mammoth total of 399 runs, which was the second highest total of the tournament. South Africa was never under pressure defending the total. Their bowlers constantly chipped in with wickets and totally dominated the game. Marco Jansen was terrific with the new ball and dismissed Dawid Malan and Joe Root. Lungi Ngidi dismissed Jonny Bairstow.

Kagiso Rabada dismissed Ben Stokes, who made his comeback in the ODI World Cup. Gerald Coetzee then just ran through the rest of the batting order of England. The tailenders of England tried their best to save the net runrate of the team. Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson hit some big blows. But it was just too late for England. They noe have 3 losses in 4 games. In the upcoming days, the campaign is going to be a lot more tough for the defending champions.
