‘100% true Kaha’ – Fans react as legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara advises India pacer Umran Malik to improve his bowling

Indian star pacer Umran Malik was in stellar form during the IPL 2022, which earned him the India cap in white-ball formats. In addition, the 23-year-old cricketer could not continue that solid form in the recently concluded IPL 2023, and his franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, was the first team to get eliminated and finished in the last spot in the points table. Notably, the great seamer has appeared in 10 ODIs and 8 T20Is while scalping 13 and 11 wickets, respectively, with an expensive economy rate, which leads to great concern for Rohit Sharma’s side.

Speaking on the same subject, the legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara advises the India pacer to improve his bowling. In addition, the former Windies batter says that the young bowler needs to learn some tricks to trouble the top batters in the world. Moreover, the left-handed batter also says that India’s pacer is very young and has a lot of years to play.

You have to have the ability to do something with the ball: Brian Lara

“He will be a sensation, but very quickly he will have to learn that fast bowling really does not trouble the best players in the world. You have to have the ability to do something with the ball, be sensible, and maybe understand times when you have to trickle back or understand the times when you have to up the tempo. He is very young and has got a lot of years ahead of him,” Brian Lara said on the YouTube channel ‘Wake Up With Sourabh.’

Furthermore, the 54-year-old great cricketer gave an example of Wasim Akram, Malcolm Marshall, and Michael Holding, called them destructive pacers, and affirmed that their bowling tricks made them so unique and lethal.

“We have had so many different examples. Wasim Akram was a raw pace, Malcolm Marshall had a destructive pace, and Michael Holding. But they all know that at some point in time, they had to come with a lot more tricks than just being able to bowl fast,” he added further.
