Rohit Sharma came into Monday’s game against Nepal under pressure. The Indian team needs to win the match in a bid to make it to the next round. Nepal had nothing to lose as they were playing their first-ever big tournament. For India, there was a lot riding on the game after their washed-out game against Pakistan on Saturday.

It was yet another hot and murky day at Pallekele as the two teams got ready for their game. Rohit Sharma decided to bowl after winning the toss as both the teams made one change each. It was an important game for Mohammad Shami who was rested for the last game.

Rohit Sharma takes a sharp catch to dismiss Nepal skipper –

Ravindra Jadeja has always been called the man with the golden arm for India. The 34-year-old showed it once again as he dismantled the Nepal batting order. Rohit Paudel was facing off against Jadeja and went for a cut shot. The ball hurried onto Rohit Sharma the Indian captain who showed good reflexes to take the catch to dismiss Paudel for 5 runs.

It was an important wicket for India on a day where the fielding has been a huge letdown. Team India dropped three easy chances in the first five overs of the game. Mohammad Shami twice and Mohammad Siraj were the unlucky bowlers.

Kushal Bhurtel was first dropped by Shubman Gill in the first over by Ishan Kishan in the fifth over. Aasif Shaikh on the other was dropped by Virat Kohli in the first ball of the 2nd over bowled by Siraj.

Apart from the dropped catches, the Indian bowling looked ordinary in the first ten overs. Nepal batters, used the power-play overs well as they raced to 65 runs in 10 overs. Shardul Thakur then provided the breakthrough when he had Bhurtel caught by Ishan Kishan.

It was then the Ravindra Jadeja show as the left-arm spinner picked three wickets. Jadeja got Bhim Sharki out when the batted chopped one back onto his stumps for 7. Jadeja got his second wicket when he had the wicket of Rohit Paudel as the Nepal skipper was out for 5. Jadeja’s third wicket was Kushal Malla, who was out for 2 caught by Mohammad Siraj.
