India is in the final stage of preparation for the Asia Cup 2023. The Indian team was in Bengaluru to practice for the tournament. The players who were selected for the squad were in Alur grounds in Bengaluru for 5 days. According to the reports, the Indian players had a very good practice session in all five days and tried different match simulations. The players also practiced for different match situations.
Along with match situations, the players also tried to tackle certain kinds of bowlers. The batters were seen practicing hard against the pacers, as the Pakistani pacers are a threat on any day. Since the playing conditions can assist the pacers in the first few overs, the players felt the need to practice for sheer pace. The bowlers can swing the ball either way with the new ball.
There might be a seam on offer for the pacers, which can be crucial for picking wickets in the middle overs. More importantly, the tracks are expected to be spin-friendly. Spinners will play a big role throughout the tournament without a doubt. Even in the 2023 ODI World Cup, spinners will play a huge role in the success of a team. Hence, the batters must be prepared to play against spin.
Ishan Kishan seen practicing with Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja
Considering the importance of playing both pace and spin, the Indian management decided to pair some of the players to practice together. For the same, Ishan Kishan practiced along with the two All-rounders, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Kishan is set to replace KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper batter for India in the group-stage matches against Pakistan and Nepal.
Since Kishan has not played much in the middle order, it can be a good way to practice against spinners like Ravindra Jadeja, who can prove to be very good at spin-friendly tracks. Kishan will be under pressure to perform in the absence of Rahul. A practice session with the likes of Jadeja and Hardik can prove to be a blessing in disguise for the Southpaw.
