Australian Open 2023
5 players who have won Australian Open Men’s singles titles most times
2. Roy Emerson – 6
On number two, we have a local hero. Australia’s Roy Emerson has won the coveted title six times. The first one came in 1961, the eighth year of his participation. His wait didn’t go in vain as the 86-year-old Australian reached a consecutive final in the next year, where he lost to Rod Laver.
However, this final defeat brought a string of good luck as Emerson went on to win five consecutive titles from 1963 through 1967. He finally retired in 1983 after 15 years of professional Tennis and 12 career Grand Slams.
