‘Warner bhai, Aap reels hi banao ab’- Fans reacts as Stuart Broad dismisses David Warner for 15th time in Ashes 2023

The contest between Australian opener David Warner and England pacer Stuart Broad was billed as one of the key battles heading into the Ashes series, and the tall English pacer sent the Aussie star back to the pavilion for the 15th time in his career on Saturday.

Broad struck early on the second day of the Ashes Test at The Oval, as Warner played a ball outside-off trying for an expansive drive in the 10th over. However, he suffered for his lack of technique as the ball slammed into his stumps, leaving Warner speechless.

Stuart Broad Vs David Warner in History

Warner was out for 9 in 27 balls, his short innings hitting only two fours. The expulsion added to his terrible track record against Broad. Warner has scored 397 runs in 734 balls against Broad in Tests, for an average of 26.46. The bowler has dismissed him 15 times now. In England’s seam and swing-friendly conditions, the figures only go worse. Broad has kept Warner on a leash at home, with the batter scoring only 158 runs in 329 balls for a paltry 17.55 average.

In England, Broad has dismissed Warner nine times. The majority of these dismissals occurred during the 2019 Ashes series in England, as Broad dismissed Warner seven times in 10 innings. In that series, the Southpaw allowed 95 runs in 10 innings at an average of 9.50, with the highest being 61. Warner has scored 704 runs at an average of 25.14 in 15 Tests in England. He has seven fifties in 28 innings, with a highest score of 85.

After deciding to bat first, England declared their first innings at 393/8. Root’s century (118* in 152 balls, with seven fours and four sixes) and fifties from Jonny Bairstow (78 in 78 balls, with 12 fours) and Zac Crawley (61 in 73 balls, with seven fours) propelled England to a massive total. Nathan Lyon (4/149) was the Australian bowler of choice. Josh Hazlewood took two wickets, while Scott Boland and Cameron Green each took one.

The Barmy Army, the England fan group, posted a fabricated image of Warner writing lines on a chalkboard with the caption, “Stuart Broad has got me out again.”
