The Ashes 2023
‘Pehle do match kyu nhi khila rahe the’ – Fans react as England pacer Mark Wood bowls record breaking over in 3rd Ashes 2023 Tes
Star England pacer Mark Wood made a blistering comeback in Test cricket with a record-breaking over in the 3rd Test of the Ashes in 2023. Wood, in his amazing performance, bowled a furious over in Headingley, making it the fastest to date. During the first two Ashes Tests, England was accused of lacking pace in its attack, with the likes of James Anderson and Stuart Broad sweating against Australia’s world-class batting order.
As a result, Ben Stokes substituted Wood for experienced fast bowler Anderson for the Leeds Test, and he instantly highlighted the threat he poses to Australian batters. Wood bowled his first over at speeds of 91, 93, 95, 93, 94, and 93mph, making it the fastest over ever bowled at Headingley. He followed that up with a 96.5-mph delivery in his second over.
The 33-year-old recorded three successive maidens, putting pressure on the Australian hitters before reserving his best delivery for last, with a crucial breakthrough in the penultimate ball of his stint. Usman Khawaja, the seasoned opener who dominated the first Test at Edgbaston, had no response for Wood’s 95-mph missile, which crashed into his stumps
Mark Wood failed to break his own record!
Meanwhile, Sky Sports verified that Wood’s spell on Thursday was the second-fastest in Test cricket in England. Wood established the record against New Zealand in 2021 at Lord’s. However, speaking about the game, Australia and England both made a few changes in the playing xi. Hosts England dropped Ace pacer James Anderson and brought in Wood.
While Chris Woakes has replaced Josh Tounge in the team, On the other hand, Mooen Ali also returned to the English squad, replacing Ollie Pope. Meanwhile, Australia replaced injured Nathan Lyon with Todd Murphy, Cameron Green with Mitchell Marsh, and Josh Hazelwood with Scott Boland. Lyon has been ruled out of the series after an injury to his leg, while Green suffered a blow to his hands.

First morning in a must win test match to stay in the ashes, Bairstow has dropped 2 catches, don't deserve anything, stokes failing yet again keeping his mates in the team!
