ODI World Cup 2023
‘Ye Pak vale hi lafda krenge’ – Fans react to security deployment issue for Pakistan vs England match in the World Cup
The Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is all set to take place in October and November this year in India. Notably, India is hosting the mega tournament after 2011, and Indian cricket fans are so thrilled to witness the games from the ground. Meanwhile, Kolkata’s Eden Garden is set to host the five World Cup matches. Notably, the Babar Azam side will be playing most of their matches at Eden Gardens.
According to the reports, there will be security issues during the Match between Pakistan and England due to Diwali (Durga Puja). In addition, the Kolkata Police have shared the update with the Bengal Cricket Association on the same matter. “Kolkata Police has told the Bengal Cricket Association that security deployment could be an issue for the Pakistan vs England match in the World Cup,” quoted by PTI.
Special security arrangements will be there for Pakistan: CAB President
Meanwhile, a few days ago, Cricket Association of Bengal president Snehasish Ganguly (elder brother of former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly) affirms that Eden Garden has already hosted T20 matches in 2016, and they are all set to take on the challenge of arranging Pakistan matches in Kolkata. Notably, the President was feeling very confident about hosting the matches there, and they promised to give special security to the Men in Green in the upcoming World Cup.
“We have already hosted India vs Pakistan in T20Is. But we are having two Pak matches. These matches are tough. Organizing a World Cup is challenging. We are prepared to take on any kind of challenge. In all the IPL matches we had a lovely crowd. I am very confident about hosting the matches. Special security arrangements will be there for Pakistan. I think Pakistan has played previously in Kolkata. I don’t know the inside story. But their first preference is Kolkata, followed by Chennai and Bengaluru,” Snehasish said.

Bcz of #Kalipuja and #Diwali the security deployment will be an issue for Eng v Pak match in Kolkata. That's understandable but how #BCCI is handling this #CWC23 schedule thing being the richest board in the world is absolutely pathetic 😔😕#CricketTwitter
