‘Form aagya to uchal ra h ye’ – Fans react as Nicholas Pooran gets fined 15% of match fees for criticizing on-field umpires during second T20I against India

West Indies star batter Nicholas Pooran has been fined 15% of match fees for criticizing the on-field umpires during the second T20I match against India. Notably, the wicketkeeper batter accepted the offence and sanction after the match.

In addition, this incident occurred after an LBW decision was overturned in the fourth over of India’s innings. The left-handed batter condemned the umpires for having used a player review for a decision that he felt was not correct. Furthermore, the two on-field umpires, namely Leslie Reifer and Nigel Duguid, the third umpire, Gregory Brathwaite, and the fourth official, Patrick Gustard, filed the charges against him shortly after the match.

“Pooran was found to have breached Article 2.7 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match,” an official release from the Apex Cricket Council read.

Notably, after the great knock, the 27-year-old batter was awarded Player of the Match. In addition, the Trinidad-born batter affirms that he wanted to finish the game. Moreover, the West Indies batter further added that anything can happen during the match, and it can flip from one side to another.

“I want to perform and be satisfied with this. Honestly, I want to finish the game. But when I got out, I thought it was done and dusted. But it is cricket, anything can happen and we did see the game turning on its head,” Pooran said after winning the Man of the Match award.
