The shot of Virat Kohli against Harris Rauf in the 2022 T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan at the Melbourne cricket ground has now become a part of folklore. It became iconic instantly as Virat timed it. But after rewatching the shot so many times, many fans, experts, former cricketers, and cricket lovers believe that it was one of the greatest shots ever hit in cricket.
The former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg believes the same. Speaking about the Asia Cup 2023 in one of the interviews, Hogg believed that Virat would be dangerous for the opponents in the 2023 Asia Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup. The former ODI World Cup winner also believed that Kohli could be at his dominant best in the ODI World Cup, which will take place in the home soil of the star batter.

Talking about the shot of Kohli against Rauf, Hogg said “Hitting Haris Rauf back over his head off a good length, that was the best shot that I have ever seen in cricket. It was brilliant. Yeah, he was just awesome. He was switched on. But I think fans out there have got to realize too that there is a lot of pressure on Virat Kohli,” and praised the class of the exceptional batter.
“He is going to have those ups and downs. When he has got that right frame of mind, he has had the pressure off him, and he has been able to relax and come back, you see the dominant Virat Kohli, and I think we are going to see a brilliant Virat Kohli on home soil in a World Cup. He wants it, and that is a big danger for opposition teams” added Hogg.
The shot of Kohli against Rauf is well documented. Hitting a six against a bowler like Rauf against a slower delivery bowled slightly back of a length almost above the waist high and lofting it over the bowler for a six is one of the most difficult shots ever, more so when the team needs 28 runs in 8 balls in an arch-rivalry game.
