Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami were held to 0-0 draw against Nashville for first time since he joined club

Inter Miami and Nashville came to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday, which is the first time that has occurred since star footballer Lionel Messi joined the side. It marked the first time during his stint with Inter Miami that Messi finished a game without a goal. Notably, the 36-year-old missed his two free-kick chances in his first home Major League Soccer match. Notably, the Argentina-born player had scored eleven goals in nine appearances after joining the club.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami head coach Tata Martino expressed his disappointment after the game. Notably, the 60-year-old coach says he wasn’t able to spend a week with the team. He also added that they fell short of practice time to train the players. Moreover, they will look to improve further.

We really haven’t had a full week working with this team: Tata Martino

“We really haven’t had a full week working with this team. Even with the evolution of this team through Leagues Cup and Open Cup, the fact that we play every four days hasn’t allowed us the enough time, the necessary time, to train and continue building this group. But what we’ve been able to do is correct through videos and see the improvements through the games,” Inter Miami coach Tata Martino said.

Brian Anunga also spoke after the match about how Nashville SC managed to become the first team to hold Inter Miami goalless since Lionel Messi joined the club. Notably, the 27-year-old midfielder was extremely thrilled after drawing the game. In addition, the great footballer felt it was a great chance for them to bounce back. He further added that it was very important for them to keep discipline and patience over getting frustrated in tough situations.

“It’s a very good result for us, considering our last game, it was good for us to bounce back here. It was important for us to keep our discipline and be patient and not get frustrated at all.”
