Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has always found himself in the news for his statements. The former left-handed batter is known for his no-nonsense approach and straight talk on any topic.
Gambhir was in the news this year during IPL 2023 for his clash with Virat Kohli. The much-spoken-about clash happened during the Lucknow versus Bangalore match. The former India opener is currently in Sri Lanka with Star Sports as part of the commentary panel for the Asia Cup 2023.
The 41-year-old has on occasion made comments which haven’t been received well by the fans. During the India versus Pakistan game on Saturday, Gautam Gambhir was again in the headlines when he made some comments which has stirred debate.
Gautam Gambhir’s latest comment on MS Dhoni –
Former Indian teammates Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni played a key role in many of India’s wins. Their biggest moment together came in the final of the 2011 World Cup, where India won the tournament. Gambhir had scored 97 in the final, while Dhoni was not out on 91 to win the cup.
During the course of the India versus Pakistan game, the broadcasters put up an old scorecard. This belonged to the 2010 Asia Cup game, which was played in Sri Lanka’s Dambulla stadium. India had gone on to win the close match in the final over.
Speaking about the game Gautam Gambhir said “Actually, It wasn’t me who won the match for the team. There was a partnership between me and Dhoni, but I believe that whoever hits the final run, wins the match for his team”

Harbhajan Singh had hit the winning six off the bowling of Mohammad Amir to win the game for India. The fractious encounter saw lots of heated moments while India was batting. Gambhir got into a heated argument with Kamran Akmal, while Harbhajan and Shoaib Akhtar were involved in an argument.
Speaking about the game, Pakistan were bowled out for 267. Salman Butt top scored with 74 while Kamran Akmal scored a 41-ball half-century for his team. In response, India saw Gambhir and Dhoni add 98 runs for the third wicket. Gambhir was the top scorer with 83 while Dhoni scored 56. Harbhajan Singh then scored a breezy 15 as India won the game by 3 wickets with a ball to spare.
