Louis Van Gaal claims 2022 Football World Cup as premeditated

Louis Van Gaal, who was the manager of the Netherlands Football team during the Football World Cup in 2022, claimed that the tournament was premeditated and in favour of Argentina. The controversial statement from Van Gaal has shaken the Football world. The comments of the former Dutch manager became viral on the internet and received criticism from the Football fraternity.

Van Gaal spoke about it during the Eredivisie Award 2022/23 gala. “I don’t really want to say much about it. When you see how Argentina gets the goals and how we get the goals, and how some Argentina players overstepped the mark and were not punished, then I think it was a premeditated game,” said Van Gaal, accusing of a premeditated game.

Van Gaal’s team lost to Argentina in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Football World Cup

In the quarterfinal stage of the tournament, the Netherlands faced Argentina and lost in the penalty shootouts. It was a match filled with a lot of heated moments. Even after the end of the match, there were heated exchanges between the players of the two teams. A good match between the two teams did not get the attention, as the brawl between the players took centre stage.

Van Gaal was asked to explain his comments. The former Dutch manager replied saying, “I mean everything I say.” When asked to explain in detail, Van Gaal said that the tournament was set in such a way that Lionel Messi and Argentina had to win at all costs. “I think so,” added Van Gaal, as he said that the tournament was premeditated in favor of Messi.

Before the tournament, Messi had claimed that the 2022 World Cup would be his last appearance on the biggest stage. “I have said several times before that I don’t think so that that (2022) was my last World Cup,” said Messi. But recently, Messi seemed to have changed his thoughts. “I will see how things go but in theory, I don’t think I will be around for the next World Cup,” Lionel Messi had said recently.
