Asia Cup 2023
‘Majak bana diya hai khel kaa’ – Fans react as Venkatesh Prasad slams ACC over reserve day call for IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 clash
The Men in Blue are all set to lock horns against Pakistan on September 10 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to commence their Super Fours journey in the ongoing Asia Cup. In addition, the India-Pakistan match on September 2 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy has been washed out as the rains stopped the play. Notably, the viewers have missed the conclusion that forced the Asian Cricket Council to give a revised date for the India-Pakistan match on September 11 during the Super Fours. Following this act, a plethora of players, coaches, and experts have condemned it. Notably, former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad is one of them.
The former India bowler lashed out at Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah, calling this move shameless. In addition, the former right-arm pacer feels that it is unethical to have the rule for only two teams. Furthermore, the 54-year-old cricketer hopes that the match has to be abandoned on September 10 and that there should be heavy rain on September 11 so that the plans of continuing the game on rest day fail. Moreover, the Karnataka-born cricketer feels this malicious act will be an injustice to other teams.
It is unethical to have a tournament with rules different for IND vs PAK: Venkatesh Prasad
“If true this is absolute shamelessness this. The organizers have made a mockery and it is unethical to have a tournament with rules being different for the other two teams. In the name of justice, will only be fair if it is abandoned the first day, may it rain harder on the second day and these malicious plans not succeed,” Venkatesh Prasad wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam’s side remains undefeated in the ongoing Asia Cup as they record a great win against Bangladesh during their opening game of the Super Fours on September 6 in Lahore. Notably, the Men in Green will be looking to get a win against Rohit Sharma’s side to make their way into the finals.

That's not cricket. It's an open tamasha where focus is entirely on money making, even at the cost of bending the rules/conventions
