‘Inko pehle batting nahi deni hai’ – Fans react to South Africa’s dominant win against Bangladesh in ODI World Cup 2023

South Africa overcame Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023 in a comprehensive way. After winning the toss, the South African captain Aiden Markram was soon to opt to bat first, considering how fantastic their batting has been in the tournament. Eventually, the game between South Africa and Bangladesh turned out to be another example of South Africa’s batting might.

In challenging conditions in Mumbai, where both heat and humidity could trouble the players, South Africa had a dominant game in the middle. but in the first few overs of the match, Bangladesh had kept South Africa silent. By attacking with spinners early in the innings, Bangladesh had South Africa for a score of 44/2 after the end of the first powerplay.  It did seem like difficult to score in the first few overs.

As the match progressed, it became relatively easier for the batters to score. That was when De Kock took on the Bangladesh bowlers for fun. The southpaw got good support from the other end in the form of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen. Both of them scored fifty for themselves and helped De Kock. The Southpaw was the star of the show, who scored 174 runs in 140 balls, which included 14 fours and 7 sixes.

South Africa climb up to second spot in the points table

Klaasen and Miller finished extremely well for South Africa, which helped them score a mammoth total of 382 runs in their 50 overs. Chasing the target, Bangladesh succumbed to pressure early on and threw away wickets. Marco Jansen was destructive with the new ball and dismissed the top-order batters of Bangladesh. Kagiso Rabada was very good in the middle overs.

Every bowler in the South African attack turned out to be good. Mahmudullah put on a show towards the fag end of Bangladesh’s innings. But the lack of support from the other end meant that his knock went in vain. In the end, South Africa overcame Bangladesh to ensure their fourth win of the tournament. With the win, the proteas climbed up to the second spot in the points table.
