‘Looks like Dil Dil was finally played’ – Fans react as Pakistan knock Bangladesh out of ODI World Cup 2023 with 7-wicket win

Babar Azam and Co. finally get their win after four back-to-back losses in the ODI World Cup  2023. The Pakistan cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets during their seventh game of the marquee event on October 31 at Eden Garden in Kolkata. Notably, the Men in Green have jumped to fifth place in the points table, but their hopes are alive to reach the semi-final of the marquee event.

Speaking about the game, it was Bangladesh skipper Shakib-Al-Hasan who won the toss and invited Pakistan to bowl first. Notably, after being elected to bat first, they piled up 204 runs before going all out. Star opener Liton Das and middle-order batsman Mahmudullah played scintillating knocks to post a decent total against Pakistan.

However, during the chase, Pakistan star opener Abdullah Shafique hammered up 68 runs, featuring nine boundaries and two sixes, whereas Fakhar Zaman got 81 runs from 74 balls, which boosted their innings and helped them chase down the total in just 32.3 overs.

All credit to the boys the way we played in all three departments: Babar Azam

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam expressed his happiness about getting the win after four back-to-back losses in the ODI World Cup 2023. The 29-year-old skipper heaps praise on his team for excelling in all three departments against Bangladesh. In addition, the stylish right-handed batsman was extremely elated to witness Fakhar Zaman batting so well in their do-or-die clash. The Lahore-born skipper is hopeful to get wins in the remaining two matches to get a spot in the semi-finals of the marquee event.

“All credit to the boys the way we played in all three departments. We know, if Fakhar bats for 20-30 overs, it’s a different ball game, he played his natural game. Good to see him. We are trying to win the next two matches, we’ll see where we stand. We started well, the way Shaheen started. After 15-20 overs, they built a partnership, our main bowlers picked wickets. We picked wickets in the middle overs. Thank you (fans) so much for the support,” Babar Azam said after the win.
