‘Nazar thing is REAL’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma gets bowled out on second ball in ODI World Cup 2023 clash vs Sri Lanka

Team India has locked horns against Sri Lanka for their seventh game of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the iconic Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. will be the first team, which will qualify for the semi-final spot if they defeat the Sri Lankan side in the ongoing match of the event.

However, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, who was born up practising in Mumbai, was cheaply dismissed for just two runs in his second ball after scoring the boundary on the first ball. Notably, the 36-year-old skipper can do damage to Sri Lankan bowlers if he stands till the end. The stylish right-handed batsman is in the race to become the leading run-scorer owing to his scintillating knocks in the ongoing event.

Speaking about the game here, it was Sri Lankan skipper Kusal Mendis who won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. However, it was not a bad call for India, as Rohit Sharma also wanted to bat first on this pitch. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was ecstatic to lead his side at his native place, where he had spent most of his childhood.

It’s important for us to not get carried away by the performances we put in: Rohit Sharma

“Would have batted first, good pitch to bat on. Some assistance to start with but under lights, there will be good assistance for our pacers. Great honour and, a great moment to lead the team (first match as an Indian captain at home ground). It’s important for us to not get carried away by the performances we put in. Same team as the last game,” Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
