ODI World Cup 2023
‘Tussi jaa rahe ho, Tussi na jaao’ – Fans react as Babar Azam steps down from captaincy for Pakistan
A shocking announcement comes from Babar Azam that has left the cricket fraternity wondering about the future of Pakistan cricket. The star cricketer stepped down from leading his team in all the formats of the game. The move from Babar comes following the bad performance of Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023. Pakistan could not even qualify for the semifinal of the big tournament.
Babar took to X and announced his decision. In his long message, Babar remembered the highs and lows of his career. “I vividly remember the moment when I received a call from PCB to lead Pakistan in 2019. Over the past four years, I’ve experienced many highs and lows on and off the field, but I wholeheartedly and passionately aimed to maintain Pakistan’s pride and respect in the cricket world,” wrote Babar.
Babar thanked the people involved in his captaincy stint. “Reaching the number one spot in the white-ball format was a result of the collective efforts of players, coaches, and management but I’d like to express my gratitude to passionate Pakistan cricket fans for their unwavering support during this journey. Today, I am stepping down as the captain of Pakistan in all formats. It’s a difficult decision but I feel it is the right time for this call,” added Babar.
‘I am here to support the new captain and the team with my experience’ – Babar Azam
Babar further added that he would continue to support the team with his experience. “I will continue to represent Pakistan as a player in all three formats. I am here to support the new captain and the team with my experience and dedication. I want to express my sincere thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for entrusting me with this significant responsibility,” wrote Babar on X.
The decision of Babar hurt the fans. The Pakistani star cricketer has been the captain of the team in the last 4 years in all the formats. As a captain, Babar took Pakistan to the semifinal and final of the T20 World Cups 2021 and 2022 respectively. The ODI World Cup 2023 did not go well for Pakistan. As a result, Babar stepped down from his responsibilities.

If you want to play for Pakistan then bat quietly, Don’t think of captaincy.
if you even think of captaincy, Politics will be started around you and your team mates pull you down.
