‘Christmas ke din diwala’- Twitter furious at Rishabh Pant for no show in 4th innings against Bangladesh

The India vs Bangladesh match is going at full tilt on Day 4. India having been put into a difficult position on Day 3rd started Day 4 with Axar Patel and Jaydev Unadkat but were soon found struggling again after Unadkat got out in the early hours of the day.

Rishabh Pant then came onto the pitch with the opportunity to get India over the line with his characterful batting in Test. The southpaw needed to just be there on the pitch or play aggressively and finish the match quickly.

The 25-year-old however failed to do the needful yet again and added another poor inning to his bad knocks. In 13 balls, Pant made 9 runs and got out playing a poor shot.

The left-hand batter was hit on the pads while defending a straight delivery from Mehidy Hasan. The non-striker batter Axar Patel was so certain of the dismissal that he advised Pant to not take the DRS call. On replay, it could be seen that the ball’s impact was in line and it hit the stumps.

Following his dismal performance in the second innings when the team required the most, many fans have lashed out at the 25-year-old. Many fans claim that the batter has lost his touch and cannot perform when the stakes are high.

There are some however who have called for support for the batter and put forth stats to show Pant’s quality. A user by the name Dharani wrote, ” He didn’t score runs he out early now they know the value of Rishabh Pant. He is always saving the Indian Team when they are in trouble. Everyone knows the value of Pant now why he is very important player. He deserve respect and he is selfless cricketer.”

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Rishabh Pant’s disappointing inning against Bangladesh.

India eventually won the match by 3 wickets on Day 4 on the back of Ravi Ashwin’s 42 in 62 and Shreyas Iyer’s 29 in 46. As a result of this win, India also clean-swept Bangladesh by 2-0.
