Novak Djokovic hampered by wrist issue at United Cup on Tuesday
Tennis great Novak Djokovic used the medical timeout to get treatment for his injured wrist between sets in the United Cup match between the Czech Republic and Serbia on January 2. Notably, the 36-year-old’s decision to take a timeout shortly after losing to Jiri Lehecka in the second set did not go over well with those in attendance during the game.
However, in a match that both teams had to win, Marketa Vondrousova gave Team Czech Republic the early advantage by overcoming Olga Danilovic. However, the Siberian said after the win that the wrist was sore. Meanwhile, the legendary player clarified that these kinds of incidents happened in the game and that this wasn’t the first time. Moreover, Novak clarified that he focused on looking for solutions.
“But I managed to play it through and it’s not the first or the last time. These things happen. You just have to manage and find a solution. Let’s see what happens now,” Novak Djokovic said.
Watching Federer play has moved me more than Novak Djokovic: Rafael Nadal
However, just a few days ago, Nadal caused controversy in the tennis world after he acknowledged the major influence that Roger Federer had on his historic tennis career as compared to Novak Djokovic. In addition, the legendary player stated that witnessing Federer play has had a bigger effect on him than his interactions with Novak Djokovic.
“Several factors come together. Since I have memory, he is the player who has impressed me the most, the one who has entertained me the most, the one who has moved me the most. Watching Federer play has moved me more than Djokovic, and in the end, tennis is about emotion; it’s the emotion that draws you to it. I have very good technique, a lot of it, but technique is not the same as aesthetics. They are two different things. He had an incredible technique, making things very beautiful with impressive elegance,” Rafael Nadal said being quoted by PTI.
