CM Punk reveals plans WWE had for him for WrestleMania 2024
CM Punk has opened up on missing out on an opportunity to main event in Wrestle Mania for the first time. The WWE Superstar was likely to take on Seth Rollins in Wrestle Mania XL if everything was going according to the plans. The unfortunate wrestler got injured while in the ring in the 30-men Royal Rumble event last month, where he was thrown out of the rope by Cody Rhodes.
Punk sustained a triceps injury on his right hand and has been out of action since then. He was however present in the Wrestle Mania 40 kickoff event which featured stars like Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and The Rock. In an interview recently, Punk was asked if he was going to feature in Wrestle Mania if everything was fine. Punk answered the question with a heavy heart.
The voice of the voiceless claimed that he was going to headline Wrestle Mania XL. “You know, fingers crossed, yeah, I was going to headline WrestleMania. Obviously, now I’m not. But, you know, it’s sports. It’s what happens to athletes,” said Punk in his statement. Punk claimed it to be more of a mental pain than a physical pain and regarded it to be a bump in the road.
“I’m a clumsy idiot” – CM Punk
“Mentally, I think it’s harder because the physical pain is whatever. But I look at it just like a bump in the road,” added Punk in his statement. The cult of personality claimed himself to be an idiot for getting injured. The former world champion remembered how he tore his left triceps a few years ago and suffered the same on his right triceps.
“This is an occupational hazard. It happens and I’ll be back bigger and better. I’m a clumsy idiot. I tore my left triceps about two years ago, so the right one was jealous,” added Punk in his statement. The WWE Superstar claimed that it would take him at least 6-8 months to be back in action. The fans are hopeful of his quick return.
