SA20 has enthralled the audience with some riveting cricketing action in the first week. The Match 12 between MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape was no different as fans got to see a thrilling chase. During the game, a hilarious moment was witnessed as anchor Zainab Abbas fell down while taking an interview on the boundary rope.
The incident took place during the second innings on the last ball of the 13th over bowled by Sam Curran. Curran bowled a full delivery which Marco Jansen smacked towards the deep wicket. The fielder dived to save the boundary and ended up colliding with Pakistani anchor Zainab Abbas who was taking an interview near the boundary rope. She fell down right after the collision and was helped by his interviewee to stand back. No one was harmed and everyone seemed to enjoy the moment.

Coming back to the match, Sunrisers captain Aiden Markram won the toss and invited MI Cape Town to bat first. They didn’t have the best of the starts as they lost their dangerous opener Dewald Brevis in the second over itself with the score on 7. From there on, Ryan Rickelton and Grant Roelofsen took the innings forward with their 102-run stand in 68 balls. The partnership was broken by Ottniel Baartman who dismissed Rickelton and Roelofsen in the same over.
Marco Jansen sets up a thrilling win for Sunrisers with his bat
Rickelton scored 46 off 36 balls and Roelofsen scored 56 off 36 balls. After their partnership ended MI lost three wickets quickly and were reeling at 123/6 after 16.1 overs. A 48-run partnership in the last 23 balls between Delano Potgieter and Odean Smith took their side to a respectable total of 171/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Roelof van der Merwe and Ottniel Baartman picked up two wickets each for the Sunrisers.
In reply, Sunrisers faltered against some top-notch bowling by MI. They were reeling at 101/6 after 14.1 overs. A brilliant innings by Marco Jansen of 66 from 27 balls took them closer to victory. Courtesy of Jansen’s stupendous knock, Sunrisers reached the target with three balls to spare and won the match by two wickets. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for MI who picked up 3/34 in 4 overs. Marco Jansen was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning knock.
