‘I will say nothing without my lawyer’ – Twitter reacts as Manchester City face stern consequences for 115 financial rule violations since 2009
English Premier League top football club Manchester City have been charged with a number of alleged breaches of financial rules and the case has been referred to an independent commission. The club said in a statement that they are surprised of being guilty of the breaches they are been charged with by the league. The alleged breaches are from the duration of 2009-10 to 2017-18.
The club has been alleged to breach the rules of the competition requiring the provision “in utmost good faith” of “accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club’s financial position”.
The league says that the final financial information is related to “revenue (including sponsorship revenue), its related parties, and its operating costs.” The club’s manager during that period was Italy’s, Roberto Mancini.
