In the second game of the Women’s T20 League inaugural edition, Delhi posted a mammoth total of 223/2 in 20 overs against Bangalore. It was the highest total by a team in the brief history of the game. Great knocks from Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning helped Delhi reach a massive total.

As Delhi batted first, they got off with a strong start as both openers smashed fantastic half-centuries. Afterwards, Heather Knight dismissed both Lanning and Shafali in the same over allowing Bangalore to breathe a sigh of relief. Skipper Lanning, along with Shafali, added 162 runs for the first wicket. Shafali scored 84 runs off 45 balls, with 10 fours and 4 sixes, while Lanning hammered 72 runs off 43 balls, with the help of 14 fours.

Further, Jemimah Rodrigues and Marizanne Kapp hammered 22 and 39 runs, respectively, to add unbeaten 60 runs for the third wicket. It helped them to propel their team to a large total. On the other hand, Heather Knight was the only bowler from Bangalore, who impressed tonight while the inexperienced bowling lineup haunted captain Smriti Mandhana.

Mumbai beat Gujarat in the first game of WTL

In the inaugural game of the Women’s T20 League season, Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai beat Gujarat by a massive 143 runs. After losing the Toss Mumbai was put in to bat first. They capitalized on the opportunity and scored massive 207 runs in 20 overs to rout Gujarat.

Skipper Harmanpreet shined with the bat for Mumbai as she scored 65 off 30. On the other hand, Amelia Kerr scored 45 runs off 24 balls. She also took two crucial wickets and supported Saika Ishaque to bundle up Gujarat for just 64 runs. Saika took four wickets by giving 11 runs and bowling a maiden over.

Meanwhile, fans react to Bangalore’s bowling in the second game. A Twitter user comparing their performance with Men’s team said, ‘Gender badal gai hai Kismat nhi.’
