‘Bhagwan ke ghar der hai andher nahi’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli scores Test century after 1205 days in in Ahmedabad
On Day 4 of the fourth Test in Ahmedabad, Virat Kohli delivered yet another masterclass as India surpassed Australia’s massive first innings score of 480/10. Leading India’s charge, Kohli went on to score his maiden Test century in over 3 years and added another 86 runs as India’s first innings ended on 571, with Shreyas Iyer missing out due to Injury.
Kohli was the final batter out, caught in the deep by Marnus Labuschagne off Todd Murphy’s bowling. In his innings, Kohli hammered 186 runs off 324 balls with the help of fifteen boundaries. This is Kohli’s overall 75th and 28th Test century. In his innings, Kohli surpassed Legend Sachin Tendulkar to take a few innings to score 75 centuries.
Virat Kohli and Axar Patel had put India in the driving seat by making 162 runs stand for the sixth wicket. On Sunday, India resumed at 289 for 3 and lost their first wicket of the day when Todd Murphy removed Ravindra Jadeja. Nathan Lyon followed suit, dismissing KS Bharat for 44 runs. Then, Virat Kohli and Axar Patel teamed forces to enable India to take the lead over Australia. Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy each took three wickets in the innings to bundle up the hosts.
India will look to win the game
With less than four sessions in the hand, India will look to bowl out Australia as soon as possible to win the game. A win here will confirm India’s start at the Test Championship finals. Although, Australia in the second innings sent Matthew Kuhnemann along with Travis Head to play the last few overs at the end of the day.
In the last six overs on Day, 4 Aussies scored 3 runs without any loss and are trailing India by 88 runs. However, Indian fans will also be in New Zealand’s chase as they have to win or Draw the first Test against Sri Lanka to give India a lifeline. If they manage to do so then India will directly qualify for the Test Championship finals.
Meanwhile, fans react to Virat’s century after visiting the Temples. A Twitter user said, “Bhagwan ke ghar der hai andher nahi.”
