India’s standby opener for Test Championship Ruturaj Gaikwad will miss the action as the focus progressively shifts to the final. The 26-year-old is scheduled to get married on June 3 or June 4 and cannot join the team in London before June 5. The Indian Cricket Board first added Gaikwad as an alternate opener for the Test Championship final, as India would play Australia at The Oval beginning on June 7. However, given the current situation, Gaikwad informed the Indian Cricket Board that he would not be able to arrive in time. As a result, Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian Cricket team, promptly began looking for a replacement. 

A source from the Indian Cricket Board spoke to the media and spoke about Yashasvi Jaiswal’s addition to the Test Championship squad. He said, “He (Jaiswal) will be joining the Indian team as Gaikwad has informed us that he won’t be able to fly due to his marriage. Hwe would be able to join the team post-June 5. (But) Coach Rahul Dravid took a call, asking the selectors to pick a replacement. So, Jaiswal will now fly to London soon.”

The upcoming star Yashasvi Jaiswal was recently added to the team and will soon join the group, according to The Indian Express. The talented left-handed hitter had a scorching IPL 2023 season, scoring 625 runs in 14 games for Rajasthan Royals at the age of 21. The RR batter was in fantastic shape all season long, and the southpaw even hit an incredible century. 

The coaching staff has reportedly requested the opening batter to start training with the red ball since Jaiswal already has a UK visa even though he will be heading to London in a few days. Some of the Indian team’s mainstream players who weren’t able to take part in the Indian Premier League 2023 playoffs have already reached the UK and started training ahead of their epic clash against Australia in the second week of June.
