‘Test match and you say – ‘Wow’ – Aakash Chopra heaps praise on Jasprit Bumrah after his match-winning spells against England in Vizag Test

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has lauded star pacer Jasprit Bumrah after his match-winning spells against England, which helped India win the second Test match at Vizag. Notably, England won the first Test match; however, Jasprit Bumrah had scalped nine wickets in the second Test match, dismantled England’s batting line-up, and helped India level up the series by 1-1.

The former India opener, Aakash Chopra, feels Jasprit Bumrah has been making him fall in love with Test cricket. In addition, the well-renowned cricket commentator feels Jasprit Bumrah caught the attention in the game, which makes the game more thrilling and exciting at Vizag.

“With what he (Bumrah) is doing currently, he is making us fall in love with Test cricket. When a batter scores a hundred or a double hundred, he stays at the crease for a long time, so it just captures your imagination a little more because you have seen him bat for seven hours. In Tests in India, we look at spinners, because they pick up six or seven wickets, and 10 or 12 wickets in a Test match and you say – ‘Wow’,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

You generally don’t look for all-format players in modern-day cricket: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra feels Jasprit Bumrah is a wonderful all-format player and the biggest threat to the opposition from India’s camp. Moreover, the 46-year-old cricketer praises the Mumbai Indians star for his comeback from injury. Notably, the 30-year-old cricketer was out of the team ahead of the Ireland tour due to the grave injury he sustained, which made him miss half of 2022 and 2023.

“You generally don’t look for all-format players in modern-day cricket. However, a player who couldn’t continuously play all cricket, went through an extremely serious injury and was out for a very long time, the way he is bowling since returning from that – a lot of bowlers come but some bowlers remain in your memory and are exceptional till the time they play,” he added further.
