‘However, let’s be honest…’ – Aakash Chopra makes audacious claim on Rohit Sharma’s form in Test series vs England
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra recently made an audacious claim about India’s captain Rohit Sharma ahead of the third Test match, which is slated to take place on February 15 in Rajkot. Notably, Rohit Sharma had failed to score runs in the first and second Test matches, which has put India in a difficult situation, and also failed to give a great start to the team.
However, Aakash Chopra feels that the 36-year-old skipper is not paying attention to his batting as compared to his captaincy. The former India opener also talks about some bad shots that Rohit Sharma has played against James Anderson and Shoaib Bashir during the Test series.
“I won’t say he is not concentrating on his batting because it’s not his first series as a captain. He had earlier been a captain as well and had done well with both his captaincy and his batting. However, let’s be honest the way he has gotten out, some shots were avoidable, like in the first match. After that, in the first innings in Vizag, the shot he played against Shoaib Bashir was slightly lazy,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
The truth is that Rohit Sharma must come in the form if India has to win this series: Aakash Chopra
The well-renowned cricket commentator also pointed out a few mistakes made by Rohit Sharma in the second Test match, which was the major reason for his dismissal in the series. Moreover, the cricketer turned analyst feels Rohit Sharma should be in form if they aim to win the series, and this is not optional but a necessity.
“You knew there was a fielder present there. Jimmy Anderson bowled a good ball in the second innings. In the second innings in Hyderabad as well, the ball pitched and came in, and hit his pads. However, the truth is that it’s absolutely necessary for Rohit Sharma to come in the form if India has to win this series. It is not optional, he has to come in form,” he added further.
