‘He hasn’t scored a single run in this…..’ – Aakash Chopra on Rohit Sharma registering back-to-back ducks in T20I series vs Afghanistan

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra took a slight dig at Rohit Sharma’s shot selection in the second T20I game against Afghanistan at the iconic Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Notably, Rohit Sharma registered back-to-back ducks in the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, marking his comeback in the shortest format of the game after a gap of 14 months.

Notably, the 36-year-old cricketer last played the T20I game, where India suffered a humiliating and heartbreaking loss against England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval.

However, Aakash Chopra was extremely surprised by the way India’s skipper Rohit Sharma got out of the game in the Indore match. The well-renowned cricket commentator opens up about how Rohit Sharma was run out in the first T20I, whereas he was bowled in the second T20I game. The former India opener slams him for not scoring a single run in the T20I series.

We need 38-40, the runs Rohit Sharma was scoring in the ODI World Cup, from his bat: Aakash Chopra

“It was extremely surprising the way Rohit got out. He was playing just his first ball. He doesn’t play such shots. The ball went and hit his stumps. He got run out in the last match and was bowled for zero in this match. He hasn’t scored a single run in this series thus far,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

The cricketer-turned-commentator accepted that Rohit Sharma is in good form, and there is no doubt about his ability. In addition, the 46-year-old cricketer feels India’s skipper should be in good form in the IPL, and he should keep scoring runs the same way he was scoring in the ODI World Cup 2023.

“Run-out was not his mistake but the shot selection definitely was. There is no doubt about Rohit Sharma’s form and ability. However, he will have to be in form in the IPL and I feel he will bat like this only. We need 38-40, the runs he was scoring in the ODI World Cup 2023, from his bat,” he added further.
