‘Aap log pehle rona band kijiye’ – Fans react as Narendra Modi visits Indian dressing room following team’s loss against Australia in ODI WC final 2023
India lost the World Cup final 2023 against Australia. The home side faced a shocking defeat in front of the crowd, which was dominated by Indian fans. Australia played better than India on the given day and won the final by 6 wickets. The knocks by Travis Head helped Australia to snatch the defeat from the hands of India team, who was dominating the tournament. Australia seemed to be prepared with a clear plan against India.
After the match, the Indian players were heartbroken. The likes of Mohammed Siraj, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma were disappointed with the loss. Rohit and Siraj were seen in tears after Australia’s victory. The footage of their gloomy faces has gone viral on social media. The dressing room of India team was filled with silence and sad faces. It needed someone to lift their spirits up.
The India PM Narendra Modi made efforts to lift the spirits of the India cricket team. Modi entered the Indian dressing room and interacted with the players who were distraught with the loss. As Modi interacted with Ravindra Jadeja, he seemed happy and greeted the former with a smile. Modi later interacted with several other players in the squad. It was good to see someone talking to the players and checking on their well-being.
Narendra Modi consoles Mohammed Shami
The Indian PM interacted with Mohammed Shami, who was the leading wicket taker of the tournament. In 7 matches, Shami claimed a whopping 24 wickets in the tournament. Despite giving his everything, Shami ended up losing the World Cup. As Shami met Modi, he became bit emotional. PM Modi embraced Shami and consoled him. The gesture of the Indian PM to ease the India team was kind.
India had not lost a match in the tournament till the final day. India had 7-8 in-form players and none of them seemed to falter under pressure in the semifinal. Hence, India became the favorites and was expected to win the tournament. What happened in the finals left the India team heartbroken, as Australia won the final in front of a packed house and silenced the cheering crowd.
