Lahore Qalanders defeated Multan Sultan by 1 run on the last ball of the innings in order to clinch the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League. The Shaheen Afridi-led side successfully defended the title and their skipper played a major role in that. First of all, he scored 44 runs off 15 balls with two fours and five sixes, whereas with the ball, he snapped four wickets in his spell. For his all-round performance, the 22-year-old was awarded the Player of the Match.

A lot of players have performed exceedingly well this season and have been rewarded with unique prizes from the Lahore franchise. According to reports, Afridi won three kanal plots, while David Wiese won an iPhone 14 for himself. Zaman Khan, Rashid Khan, and Abdullah Shafique also got a plot each.

We had many options with the ball – 8 or 9 options: Shaheen Afridi

Fakhar Zaman and Rashid Khan each received a kanal-sized land. The players of Lahore Qalandars appeared to be pleased over winning some plots in Pakistan. Yet, while receiving such unusual presents, people went crazy and posted hilarious tweets on their social media handles.

Talking about the game, Qalandars won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 200 runs and set a target of 201 for the Sultan side in order to clinch the title. Except for the skipper, South African veteran batter Rilee Rossouw scored a half-century for the side. He smashed 52 runs from 32 balls, which included seven fours and two sixes.

“We kept our nerves and finally won. Multan played quite well but as David Wiese gave an early breakthrough, Rashid responded at the right moment. We got off to a good start. But there are always turning points. We had many options with the ball – 8 or 9 options. Credit to Zaman for the way he finished it off. Message to the team was that one wicket would bring us back,” the Lahore skipper was quoted as saying after winning the title.
