‘Two does not do justice to the rivalry…..’ – AB de Villiers believes South Africa vs India should have had more Tests

The Indian Cricket Board has announced the squad of Team India for the South Africa tour on November 30. Notably, the Men in Blue are set to travel to South Africa for a multi-format series scheduled to begin on December 10. However, former South African cricketer Ab de Villiers has spoken about how the hosts can be dominant over the runners-up of the ODI World Cup 2023 in the upcoming series.

The legendary cricketer wants the pitch to be bouncy, whilst they are playing against India to win. In addition, the former batting legend feels Proteas have the best chance to dominate against the Men in Blue in the upcoming clashes.

“If I would have been in the SA camp, I would have asked wickets with pace and bounce. These are the two things that will help South Africa beat India. Not so much seam movement as the Indian pacers can also extract that. Indian squad has a bit more class and are hungrier to win it here, while South Africa have the conditions in their favor,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

Indian players love coming to South Africa: AB de Villiers

Notably, the teams will play the two Test matches against each other. Speaking of which, Ab de Villers feels it is frustrating to have only two matches between both teams. The RCB stalwart wanted 3-4 Test matches between both the teams. Moreover, the wicketkeeper feels India loves coming to South Africa, so just two matches are an injustice for the visitors.

“It is frustrating (2 Tests) from a South African point of view. India gets their share of 3-4 Test per series when they play in India. India, Australia and England get these Test matches. It is a shame because these two teams have a great rivalry and have such a great history. Indian players love coming to South Africa. Two Tests does not do justice to the rivalry,” he added further.
