‘Just a very solid guy, solid personality…..’ – Former RCB great heaps praise on Rajat Patidar ahead of IPL 2024

Royals Challengers Bangalore has been searching for its maiden title win since IPL 2008, despite having batters like Virat Kohli in their franchise. Notably, RCB failed to enter the playoffs in IPL 2023 after their loss to the Gujarat Titans in the last game of the league stage. Meanwhile, the side has reached the playoffs of IPL 2022 but suffered a defeat against the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2, which knocked them out of the tournament.

RCB has already released and retained the players ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auctions. Notably, Rajat Patidar is one such name that has been retained by RCB. The 30-year-old batter missed the whole IPL 2023 due to injury; however, he played a very crucial role in the IPL 2022 Eliminator clash, where his century knocked out LSG in the Eliminator clash.

However, former RCB stalwart AB de Villiers was asked about Rajat Patidar recently. The star cricketer heaped praise on him while calling him a wonderful player who got more experience after playing for so many years.

“He is a wonderful player. I played with him at RCB for a few seasons. He was still very young then. He is getting more experienced now. Just a very solid guy, a solid personality, a solid attitude and a solid technique. He has got everything going for him,” AB de Villiers said in a video on his X account.

I absolutely love watching Rajat Patidar bat: AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers also shared advice with him ahead of the IPL 2024. The former batting legend feels the 30-year-old cricketer needs more fighting spirit to win the games single-handedly.

“If I can say one thing I want to see more in him, bit more or nit and grit, bit more of fighting spirit. He is almost too kind, too nice sometimes, which I think might be his downfall. Anyway, I love watching him bat. he is a fantastic player and I think he has got a bright future. It’s great to see him get rewarded to doing well in the domestic scene,” he added further.
