‘I feel there are some scars from the dressing room….’ – AB de Villiers weighs in on David Warner-Mitchell Johnson controversy

The new ODI World Cup 2023 champions are all set to face the Men in Green for the three matches of the Test series slated to commence on December 14 in Perth. However, Australian star cricketers David Warner and Mitchell Johnson have been making headlines after Johnson publicly criticised Warner for his name in the first Test match despite his poor form.

However, former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has also opened up about the controversy. The legendary cricketer affirms that he does not like such public coverage between both. In addition, the former batting legend suggested that they should solve the matter rather than make headlines in public.

“I just don’t like this public conversation between the two of them. Just pick up the phone and sort it out. Ask the guy let’s go out for a cold drink and sort the issues out. I feel there are some scars from the dressing room but don’t let the world get in on this,” AB de Villiers said in a video on his YouTube channel.

However, AB de Villers feels Johnson was not feeling well after seeing Delhi Capitals batter David Warner get a place in the ODI World Cup 2023 squad and now on the Test side as well. Moreover, the wicketkeeper batter says that David Warner is brutal on the field, but he is a gentle person off the field who doesn’t deserve the ongoing trolling.

“They have played a lot of cricket together and have shared the dressing room a lot. So maybe that’s where it started. Maybe Mitchell Johnson felt that ‘You’re a part of a World Cup winning squad and now this send-off. You’re getting away with a lot that needs to be talked about.’ I feel there’s a lot still left to come out. I have played many cricket games with this guy (Warner) and on the field he can be brutal, but off the field, he is a gentle giant. He is a nice guy,” he added further.
