With the marquee tournament just months away from the start, the excitement is building up. The fans are already making their plans for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Some of the games have had unreal hype that the fans are already booking hotels to watch such matches, especially between India and Pakistan. Many hotels have sold out rooms for the big game.

While the discussion regarding hosting is still on and Pakistan is not completely happy with India as the hosts, a new issue has surfaced that has led to the disappointment of Pakistani fans, analysts, cricketers, experts, and former greats. The official promo from the international cricket board is not well received by cricket fans from Pakistan.

Tournament promo receives criticism

Recently, the official promo for the tournament was released by the international cricket board. The promo had Shah Rukh Khan as the narrator. The video had clips from past tournaments. While most of the teams got the screen time in the video, teams like India and South Africa got more screen time. Pakistan fans were disappointed with a not-so-great depiction of their team in the video. Many fans accused India of preparing a bad promo for the tournament.

The video had more failures of Pakistan cricketers or not-so-positive moments of the team than the clips in the video. The fans showed their anger at the promo and criticized the hosts and organizers. Many former cricketers and fans questioned the exclusion of some cricketers like Babar Azam, who is one of the top batters in the world currently.

Speaking about the same, the former Pakistani cricketer and World Cup finalist Shoaib Akhtar expressed his opinions. The express pacer took to Twitter and let out his disappointment over the promo. “Rawalpindi Express” wrote “Whoever thought that World Cup promo will be complete without Pakistan & Babar Azam’s significant presence, has actually presented himself as a joke. Come on guys, time to grow up a bit” and asked for a promo.

Here’s how the fans reacted to Akhtar’s tweet –
