‘Ab regret karne se kya faida’ – Fans react as Avesh Khan accepts ‘the helmet incident was too much’ after RCB vs LSG clash in IPL 2023

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Avesh Khan regretted the famous incident in IPL 2023 where he threw his helmet in aggression after LSG registered a thrilling last ball victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2023 clash. The 26-year-old remembered how badly he was trolled for showing that aggression.

Notably, in match number 15 of the 16th edition of the cash-rich league at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, LSG were given a big target of 213 runs by RCB. With the innings by Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis, LSG went close to the winning total. However, RCB bowlers also took wickets at regular intervals as the match went down to the last ball where LSG needed 1 run to win with Avesh Khan at the crease.

RCB pacer Harshal Patel bowled a wide yorker that was missed by the LSG batter. After that Avesh ran immediately to take a single and the wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik failed to collect the ball on time. LSG won the match on the last ball with 1 wicket remaining and then came the famous moment of the season where Avesh threw his helmet in aggression after the win.

“Yeh social media mein mera mahool bana rehta hai and helmet incident thoda jyada hogaya tha. I realised later that I shouldn’t have done this. It just happened in the heat of the moment. I now feel sad that yaar yeh sab cheez nahi karna tha,” Avesh said in an interview with Indian Express.

‘If you compare my past two IPL seasons before this one…’ – Avesh

The right-arm pacer from Madhya Pradesh is expecting India call for the upcoming tour to West Indies. He last played for India in 2022 in a series against South Africa. After that, he played domestic cricket where he took 38 wickets in eight games for MP. However, he also admitted that his performance in IPL 2023 wasn’t as expected.

“If you compare my past two IPL seasons before this one, it went the way I wanted to. However, even though the season didn’t go well as per my standard, I maintained my economy rate which is less than 10. I bowl crucial overs 4 or 5th over and later in death,” Avesh said.

“I had stitches in my web and still I bowled in initial IPL games. He (Gautam Gambhir) openly said that he likes my attitude that puts the team above everything else. I took a painkiller and took an injection in my hand and everyone praised me after the game,” he added.
