‘Ab Rohit or Kohli ki bari’ – Fans react to reports of Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur being rested for 3rd ODI against Australia

India’s star cricketers Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur will not be appearing for the third and final ODI against Australia, which is set to take place on September 27 at Rajkot. Notably, both cricketers will not be flying at the venue as the management has decided to give them a short break ahead of the ODI World Cup. However, the duo will be joining the team in Guwahati, where Team India will start the ODI World Cup warm up fixtures.

India’s star opener, Shubman Gill, is looking in magnificent form this year. The right-handed batter smashed a half century against Pat Cummins’s side at Mohali, whereas he hammered a stunning hundred in Indore during the second ODI. Notably, the 24-year-old cricketer will be an influential and crucial player for his side during the upcoming marquee event set to take place on October 5.

Notably, the Men in Blue have clinched the three matches of the ODI series by 2-0, with the last set to go on September 27 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill has expressed his happiness after sealing the series at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on September 24 in a rain-curtailed match where his side won by 99 runs against the visitors.

A target of 400 was going to be difficult on any surface: Shubman Gill

“It feels good. We are satisfied as a team, we have the momentum at the right time. It depends on the situation, there’s definitely some confidence,” Shubman Gill said after the 2nd ODI against Australia.

The top-order batter was really happy after his side posted a massive total of 400 runs against a strong visiting side during the second ODI. In addition, Shubman Gill has also praised the middle-order batters KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav for carrying the great momentum once the openers got dismissed during the play.

“I can cover up later, and that confidence is because I am scoring at the moment. With the way KL (Rahul) and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) played, they kept the momentum going. A target of 400 was going to be difficult on any surface, and the bowlers came out and did their job. I think the six against Green down the ground, it was really special for me,” he added further.
