India and Australia are all set to face off against each other in the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. which will take place on March 9, at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, which is in Ahmedabad. Australia’s first victory on the Indian tour came when they defeated India in the third Test match of the series.

Despite the fact that the Aussies’ campaign has been hampered by numerous injury problems, they may currently be satisfied with their performance because they have qualified for the WTC 2023 finals, which will be held at the Oval in June.

Before the kick-off fourth BGT Test, Australian pacer Jhye Richardson has been injured and will not play in the three-match ODI series that is set to begin on March 17, 2023, in Mumbai.  The speedster’s participation in the forthcoming Indian T20 League is also in doubt. For their tour of India, Cricket Australia has not yet named Richardson’s replacement. Richardson hasn’t competed for Australia internationally since June 2022, which is unfortunate for him.

A big blow to the Mumbai franchise

Richardson injured his hamstring in January of this year and was forced to miss the Big Bash League. Also, Richardson’s injuries prevented him from competing in the Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup cricket tournaments. Nonetheless, Richardson was added to Australia’s 16-man ODI team for the three-match series in India.

Richardson played for his club Fremantle against Wanneroo in a 50-over match on Saturday in Perth in order to fully prepare himself. Richardson’s injury may have worsened during this game, restricting his ability to bowl for only four overs. He had to go through a few scans and then consult with the Western Australia medical team.

Richardson has not participated in any cricket matches since his previous appearance in the T20I and ODI series on the tour of Sri Lanka in June 2022. Richardson was chosen by the Mumbai franchise this year, but it appears that he will also be forced to miss the big tournament.
