Asia Cup 2023 saw India and Pakistan take on each other in the big-ticket clash on Saturday. The match though ended in a damp squib as rain as expected played spoilsport. The match ended in a no result with both teams getting a point each.

The washout means that Pakistan has qualified for the next round with 3 points. The second team will be decided on Monday when India faces off against Nepal. Pakistan had won the first game of the tournament against Nepal on Wednesday at Multan by 238 runs.

It was an intriguing contest as the match-up was between Pakistani bowlers and Indian batting. The Pakistani bowlers showed their talents with Shaheen Shah Afridi being the leading light.

Former Pakistan PM tries to troll the Indian team –

Shahbaz Sharif took to Twitter and replied to one of his own tweets where had just written the name Shaheen. The former PAK PM then wrote, “THEY CANNOT PLAY HIM”. This was in direct reference to the early damage done by the left-arm pacer to the Indian batting unit.

Rohit Sharma had won the toss and chose to bat first on what was a murky day at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan went into the contest with the same XI as their previous game. India went in without Mohammad Shami which caused controversy.

Shaheen Shah Afridi then struck just after the first rain break. The left pacer went through the defenses of Rohit Sharma for 11. This was followed by the wicket of Virat Kohli who chopped the ball onto his stumps for 4.

The 23-year-old got two more wickets to end the day with figures of 4/35 from his 10 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi first dismissed Hardik Pandya followed by the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah chipped in with 3 wickets each to bowl out India for 266.

The heroes with the bat for India were Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya. The two added 138 runs for the 5th wicket in over 23 overs. The pair came together when India were struggling at 66/4 in the 15th over.

Kishan scored his 7th half-century as he hit 82 off 81 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Pandya scored 87 off 90 balls with 7 fours and a six. A slower ball from Shaheen Afridi had the wicket of Pandya caught by Agha Salman. Jasprit Bumrah scored 16 to help India go past 250 before getting bowled in the 49th over.
