WATCH: Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq issues apology over derogatory remark on Aishwarya Rai
Pakistan cricket team is now out of the ODI World Cup 2023 following their poor performances in the marquee event. Notably, following that, a plethora of former Pakistan cricketers have been lashed out at PCB for their poor selection and management. However, former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Razzaq also lashed out at PCB while mentioning former Miss World and well-renowned Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name.
“Here, I am referring to their (PCB’s) intention. While I was playing, I was aware of my captain Younis Khan’s good intentions. That gave me strength and confidence, and with Allah’s help, I was able to perform well for Pakistani cricket.” He added, while elaborating more, “We don’t really intend to improve and enhance the players, in my opinion. That will never happen if you believe that I will marry Aishwarya (Rai) to have a good-natured and moral child. Therefore, you must first amend your intentions.”
Following that, he has been criticized by several cricket pundits and former cricketers for his remarks. However, the former Pakistan cricketer took to social media, apologised for his bad words, and requested that everyone forgive him. In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), he also wrote, “I am very ashamed of yesterday and I realize I said very bad words. I apologize to everyone, please forgive me.”
I had a slip of the tongue and mistakenly took Aishwarya Rai’s name: Abdul Razzaq
Moreover, the Lahore-born cricketer issued a video of him apologizing to Aishwarya Rai. The former right-arm bowler affirms that he mistakenly took her name, and it was just a slip of the tongue. Moreover, the 43-year-old cricketer says that his intention was not to hurt anyone with his statements.
While appearing on Samaa TV, he said, “Yesterday, we were talking about cricket coaching and intentions. I had a slip of the tongue and mistakenly took Aishwarya Rai’s name. I apologise to her personally. Did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiment.”
