‘Acchi khaasi jersey ko barbaad kar diya’ – Fans react to unveiling of Indian Test jersey with new kit sponsors

The West Indies as well as the Indian team will be playing a full fleged tour which will last for one month. The tour will include two Test matches followed by three One Internationals as well as five T20 Internationals, which will start on July 12 at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. The series will also mark the beginning of the World Test Championship 2023-25 for both teams.

The Indian fans would be hoping that with some new faces which have been brought into the side, there will be a different approach that the Indian team will incorporate so that they can change their fortunes this time around. Following the second consecutive loss in the World Test Championship final, India has made some notable changes in their squad as the Indian cricket board is aiming to revamp the Test side. The likes of youngsters such as Yashasvi Jaiswal as well as Ruturaj Gaikwad have earned their maiden Test call-ups, while the veteran India batter Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped from the side.

Amid the series on Wednesday, the Rohit Sharma-led team would be donning a new jersey for the series. With India starting as hot favourites to win the series, the fans are responding humorously to images of Indian players wearing the new jersey. The image which is currently trending on social media shows Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and other Indian players wearing the newly designed jersey.

The new jerseys incorporated the name of the new sponsor, which is also supposedly the major sponsor, written in red colour, which the fans do not seem to like. The majority of fans feel that the previous sponsor ‘Byjus’ was superior, while some believe that the Test jersey is steadily transitioning into the ODI uniform.

Why can't Dream 11 agree to have the name Blue to match the jersey code? Many sponsors in Premier League do this, ex Standard Chartered for Liverpool. Is the red colour too important for them? At least it gives them multiple frames of the same logo.
