‘Achi baat hain aap kisi k fan hain par..’- M Shami tells Siraj why he should avoid doing Ronaldo’s ‘Siuu’ celebration’

After winning the Test series, team India began the ODI series against Australia on a positive note. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya led the Indian team in the first ODI and beat the visitors by 5 wickets.

Batting first, Australia were bundled out on a low score of just 188 runs. Mohammed Siraj gave India a sensational start with the ball as he rattled the stumps of Travis Head with a peach of a delivery.

Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh then added 72 runs for the second wicket and led the recovery. However, once the partnership was broken, India kept putting the pressure on by picking wickets at regular intervals.

Mitchell Marsh played an outstanding knock of 91 runs but he once got out, Australia suffered a collapse. The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Stoinis, and Green failed to impress as Australia didn’t get the momentum needed in the latter part of the innings.

For India, Mohammed Siraj and M Shami wreaked havoc with the ball. Siraj returned with stellar figures of 3 for 29, while Shami claimed three wickets for 17 runs in 6 overs. India, in reply, chased down the target with 5 wickets in hand.

Following the match, both Shami and Siraj enjoyed a candid chat with each other, the video of which has been shared on the official social media page of Indian Cricket Board. During the interaction, Shami asked Siraj about the reason behind Ronaldo’s Siuuu celebration after he picks a wicket.

“I have a question for you as well. Can you tell us what is the secret behind your celebration,” asked Shami midway during the conversation.

Siraj responded: “My celebration is simple. I’m a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo so I try to follow him. When a batter is bowled I celebrate the wicket in that fashion, but if he is caught at fine leg or similar fielding position I don’t do it.”

Shami took this as an opportunity to give valuable advice but Siraj would be a bit hesitant to follow that.

“Ek advice hain, acha baat hain aap kisi k fan hain. As a fast bowler aapko yeh jumpo se thoda sa duur rehna chahiye.” (I want to give you an advice. It’s good that you are someone’s fan. But as a fast bowler you need to keep yourself away from such jumps),” Shami said.
