India is set to host The 50-over World Cup in October-November this year. Ahead of the tournament, many cricket pundits have started making their predictions for the potential winners. From India to Australia, everyone is trying to put their team ahead of others. However, a former England cricketer took a shocking name which left fans split on social media.

Former England cricketer Graeme Swann backed Afghanistan to win the upcoming World Cup. He believes that the spin duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed can help Afghanistan to clinch the world cup in spin-friendly tracks in India. Swann believes that Rashid and Noor will have a lot of experience about conditions as they are continuously bowling in the ongoing IPL.

He said, “Every nation should be jealous that India has so many good wrist spinners in the country. The only nation that shouldn’t be jealous is Afghanistan. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad are possibly the best two bowlers in the world currently. Afghanistan can win the World Cup if they keep going”.

Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed have worked in pair

In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed have been going bowlers for Gujarat Titans. While Rashid is an established player, 18-year-old Noor got some backing from the GT skipper Hardik Pandya. He delivered amazingly as both are the leading wicket-taker for the defending champions.

Rashid and Noor have clinched 30 wickets together in eleven innings. They are the most deadly pair in the ongoing tournament. Notably, on his T20I debut, Noor picked a 4-fer against Zimbabwe as he led Afghanistan to clinch the game. However, Afghanistan finished last in the points table after failing to win any of their nine games during the 2019 World Cup in England. Rashid, on the other hand, has played 5 Tests, 86 ODIs, and 80 T20Is for his country, taking 326 international wickets.
