Afghanistan set to tour India after Test Championship final against Australia in June

After the 2023 Test Championship final in June, India will host Afghanistan which would be a huge boost for the visitors. It will just be a brief trip, according to sources, and nothing is truly confirmed. 

In the month of July, India will also visit the Caribbean for the duration of two-Test, three ODIs, plus five T20Is. Either of the boards will probably make the Afghanistan series announcement soon. If India is still helping Afghanistan cricket after the Taliban takeover, the Indian Cricket Board is making a significant move. The Indian Board had previously offered its stadiums near Greater Noida, Dehradun, and Lucknow that will serve as their home grounds for Afghanistan Cricket.

The most recent tour of India by the Afghanistan cricket team was a one-off Test in 2018, in which the Afghans lost by an innings and 262 runs within two days. However, before all of that, attention will be focused on the Test Championship final, in which India and Australia will play a single Test at Kensington Oval. It is anticipated to be an exciting match. India may believe they are the small favourites after recently defeating Australia, but the conditions will once again be different, making it difficult for both teams.  

After the Taliban forbade Afghanistan’s women’s cricket squad, Australia postponed its 2022 matchup with Afghanistan. A women’s team is required for full membership from the governing body. Earlier Afghanistan’s full membership in the governing body for International Cricket just made it through the match of 2023 after the governing body for International Cricket determined that its government, and not the ACB, was at fault for this cancellation.

In November, the ACB and Taliban met with Imran Khawaja, the deputy chairman of the governing body, and the leader of the task group twice in Doha. The working committee came to the conclusion that ACB had no authority over the Afghanistan women’s squad at that time. As of now, the Indian Cricket Board has not brought up the Taliban’s ban on Afghanistan’s women’s team.
