Indian star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal quickly became a widely recognized cricketer after his outrageous batting and gritty performance during his debut Test match against the West Indies. Notably, the star batter hammered 171 runs during the opening match, built a great stand with skipper Rohit Sharma, and handed a brilliant win to Rohit Sharma’s side. In addition, the top-order batter was in stellar form in the recently concluded IPL 2023, as the 21-year-old batter accumulated 625 runs in the tournament.

Frequently, whenever the star batter performs well on the cricket ground, a video or image of him selling pani puris to cover expenses for his cricket training appears on social media.

It is not that he sold panipuri and went on to play for India: Jwala Singh

Speaking on the same subject, the young batter’s coach, Jwala Singh, dismisses the rumour about the Indian cricketer selling the panipuris to play cricket. Moreover, his coach affirmed that Jaiswal is playing cricket because of his hard work. He further clarified that he does not own a stall to sell, only that he used to help sometimes when he would get free in the evening.

“I really don’t like the story (selling panipuri). He is playing cricket because of hard work. Many sellers set up their stalls near the Azad Maidan. Sometimes when he would get free in the evenings, he used to help them a bit. He did not set up a stall himself. It is not that he sold panipuri and went on to play for India,” his coach Jwala said, being quoted by NDTV Sports.

Furthermore, Jwala Singh also said that he treated Jaiswal as his own son and that there was no poverty angle after 2013. He pointed out that these kinds of false claims on social media make them frustrated.

“I treated him like my own son. After 2013, there has been no such incident where he would have had to struggle. There is no angle of poverty here after 2013. Whatever was, was before 2013. Because of these stories, at times, both he and I both get frustrated,” he added further.
