Alan Wake DLC confirmed for Dead By Daylight

Published on

As usual, fan theories are once correct with Dead by Daylight finally announcing the addition of Alan Wake in the game through the upcoming DLC on January 30. The announcement was done along with a cinematic trailer that starts with Alan Wake working with his typewriter, depicting his role as a writer. Later on, he is seen pulled into the “Fog” by the “Entity” starting a new survival chapter.

For the time being, players can test out the new survivor in the Public Test Build (PTB). This way, players can give feedback to the developers, who can then make proper adjustments before the final release or post-DLC launch.

Just like past characters, Alan Wake will also feature three signature survivor perks that can only be obtained through DLC or through iridescent shards. Here are the perks –

Champion of Light – While players are holding a flashlight, this perk activates. Shining a flashlight provides 50% Haste. A successful blind to the Killer will give them 20% Hindered for 6 seconds. This will activate a cool-down for 80/70/60 seconds before another use.

Boon: Illumination – New Boon entry, holding the Ability button 1 near a Dull or Hex Totem will create a Boon Totem. Survivors inside your boon totem’s range see the aura of all chests and all generators in blue. However, players can only bless one Totem at a time.

Deadline – Keeping his work as a writer, this perk activates when players are injured. Skill Checks will appear 6/8/10% more frequently but in random places. The penalty for missing skill checks is reduced by 50%.

Players are also getting a limited-time modifier called Lights Out. This will force players into a new, unique situation. More details about this are yet to be revealed.

For the time being, it seems players won’t get to see Scratch, Alan Wake’s doppelgänger, as a new killer. However, there is a great possibility of his introduction as another killer DLC.
