‘You need to be more…’ – Former South Africa cricketer shares million-dollar advice for India ahead of 2nd Test
South Africa and Team India will be facing each other on January 3 in Cape Town for the second Test game. Notably, the Proteas have a great chance of sealing the series against India owing to their home soil. However, the Men in Blue will be looking to turn things around in the second Test game to level up the series.
Meanwhile, speaking about the same subject, former South African cricketer Allan Donald opened up about India‘s mistakes in the first Test and shared his million-dollar advice to win the second Test. The legendary cricketer accepted that Proteas has the advantage of home soil; however, he feels South Africa was patient as well as compared to India.
“I know South Africa probably got the better of the conditions, no questions about that. They pitched the ball in a 5 and 5.5-meter area and gave it a chance to do something off the deck. But what they did better than India…they were more patient in that area and even they used the short ball a little bit more in the second innings,” Allan Donald said on PTI.
You need to be more creative in Cape Town as wickets are a lot more flatter: Allan Donald
Allan Donald believes that South African batters greatly understand the situation. In addition, the former right-arm pacer shares his great advice with India ahead of the second Test match. Moreover, the 57-year-old cricketer also shares pitch condition advice for visiting sides.
“For India, there was one debutant (Prasidh Krishna). I thought (Jasprit) Bumrah, but Indian bowlers searched too much for things to happen. They quickly reverted to shorter balls and then lost their length a bit on the shorter side and then got opened up on either side – square leg, offside and SA batters capitalized. You need to be more creative in Cape Town as wickets are a lot more flatter and partnerships will stretch and that’s traditionally as someone who knows it will be tougher Tests,” he added further.
