‘Amazing game, a terrific final my god’ – Fans react on Aryna Sabalenka’s scintillating win in Australian Open 2023 Women’s Single’s Final

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Elena Rybakina in the women’s final of the Australian Open 2023 on Saturday, January 28. The 24-year-old from Belarus won her first-ever Grand Slam title. In the three sets, Sabalenka lost the first set but made a brilliant comeback to register a win over Rybakina 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Sabalenka won the first game easily, she took the lead in the first set but after a forced error in the ninth game, Rybanika came back in the game and won the first set after taking a 6-4 lead. Sabalenka, who was serving for the second set, once again won the first game of the set, but again due to the forced error, Rybanika got a chance to return and the set was equal to 1-1. But with the help of her superb serve, Sabalenka took a 4-1 lead.

Rybanika won the first game in the third set, but thanks to Rybanika’s forced error, Sabalenka won the second game to level the scores at 1-1. After this, the competition kept getting exciting. By winning one game each, both the players leveled the score at 2-2 and then at 3-3. Later, Sabalenka displayed a brilliant performance and ended up winning the title.

Sabalenka now won all the 11 games that she played this year and the opening set in the final which she lost to Rybakina was the first one she’s dropped. When it comes to the head-to-head details,  Sabalenka has won all four career matches against Rybakina, and that too in three sets.

It was an enjoyable tournament to play: Sabalenka

Sabalenka in the award ceremony said: “I am super nervous, I want to thank Miss King she has done so much, congratulations, Elena. Hopefully, we will have many more battles, hopefully in the final of grand slams. Thank you, everyone, and thanks guys for an amazing atmosphere. It was an enjoyable tournament to play in.

Thanks to my team, they are the craziest team on the tour. We have been through a lot of downs last year. You guys deserve this trophy more than me. I hope next year I come back even stronger and I will show you even better tennis.” Fans also came up with their views in order to congratulate Aryna Sabalenka for the victory.

Talking about the men’s finals, Novak Djokovic beat Tommy Paul on Friday to progress to the final clash of the Australian Open 2023 on Sunday. The 35-year-old registered a win 7-5,6-1, 6-2 against Paul to carry a 27-match winning streak at Melbourne Park. The legendary tennis player will now face Stefanos Tsitsipas on January 29 at the Rod Laver Arena. Tsitsipas beat Karen Khachanov 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-7 (6), and 6-3 in the semifinals and became the 9th active male player to make it to multiple Grand Slam finals.
