Team India sealed the three match of the ODI series against Australia by 2-0 on September 24 at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Notably, after registering a win at the first ODI in Mohali, the Men in Blue yet again claimed another victory by 99 runs against the strong visiting side ahead of the ODI World Cup. India’s star batters, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, smashed a century, which helped the side post a massive total of 400 runs. Later, while chasing, visitors could only pile up 217 runs before bundling out.

Meanwhile, India’s star batter, Shreyas Iyer, felt fantastic after receiving the Player of the Match award following the win and called his journey a rollercoaster ride. The great middle-order batter has opened up about his feelings during his injury days and how desperate he was to play for his country. In addition, the KKR skipper was happy as he was able to execute his plans perfectly to smash yet another hundred in Indore.

“It was a rollercoaster ride, feeling fantastic. My team-mates, friends and family were there for my support. I was seeing the matches on TV, I wanted to be out there and participate in the matches. Grateful to be believing in myself. The pain and niggles kept on coming, but I knew what I was aiming for. Glad that I was able to execute my plans perfectly today,” Shreyas Iyer said during post-match presentation.

Virat Kohli is one of the greats, there’s no chance of number 3: Shreyas Iyer

The Mumbai-born batter had smashed the century at number 3. However, he admitted that he won’t be getting the chance to bat at number 3 anymore as former India skipper Virat Kohli possesses great numbers at that position. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter is flexible enough to bat in any position where the team needs him the most.

“Basically when I went in to bat, I didn’t want to complicate things. I wanted to get my eyes set, that’s how I give confidence to myself. I am flexible, ready to bat any position, whatever my team needs me to do. Virat (Kohli) is one of the greats, there’s no chance of stealing that (number 3) spot from him. I just need to keep scoring wherever (at any position) I bat,” he added further.
